The perfect, private space for your special event.
We have been the venue choice for hundreds of events, including birthday parties, brunches, wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners, welcome parties, after parties, military events, and corporate dinners. We have an outstanding reputation for private events, and a large portion of our business comes from referrals. Our philosophy is simple: home-cooked, hearty portions, with fair pricing, and great service.
Our private venue space is very unique. Set in the center of Newport, our front room, (which holds up to 100 guests) has doors, accompanied by a balcony that open up to Thames St. There are great views of the city, and the Narragansett Bay is directly across the street. Our back room is a newer addition, with sky lights, and custom designed gas lanterns. The back room has a cozy, intimate feel, also holding up to 100 guests. Additionally, if you have a large event, you can reserve the entire upstairs for up to 200 guests. We accommodate groups of 30 to 200 guests.
For three decades our Executive Chef, Rich Gereau, has been perfecting and honing his craft in top restaurants of New England. As Executive Chef of the Gas Lamp Grille, he has captured the spirit of our American Fare cuisine. His creations are infused with many influences, and he combines our commitment of locally sourced favorites into his hearty, savory iconic dishes. He brings his creativity, and expertise to every private event, and you can taste his passion and love of food in every bite.
MJ Torello is the Director of Private Events at the Gas Lamp Grille. She is on staff to work with you from your first inquiry, all the way through to the night of your event. She will assist with timing, menu selections, and food quantities. MJ brings over 25 years of event planning and hospitality industry experience to each event. She is passionate about making your vision a reality. MJ's goal is to make you feel a part of the Gas Lamp Grille Family, while creating an outstanding private event experience that will be a lasting Newport, RI memory for you for years to come.
It is an honor to be the venue choice for your private event, and we are sincerely grateful for the opportunity. Please check out our photo gallery to see pictures from previous events.
